The Award in Signing and Receiving Skills in British Sign Language is designed to develop learners’ ability to communicate in the British Sign Language. The Award is divided into three learning outcomes:
- be able to form basic phrases in British Sign Language
- be able to recognise basic words / short phrases expressed in British Sign Language
- be able to take part in a simple interaction in British Sign Language.
On successful completion of this qualification, learners will also become aware of key convention of British Sign Language and Deaf Culture.
