Our Director of Awarding Services, Fiona Grant, visited Wakefield College on Friday 6 October to present them with their Showcase Centre Award for their motor vehicle courses. Wakefield College is impressively the largest college in the district and last year taught 9,950 students and received an overall satisfaction rating of 94% from their FE Students.
The presentation was held at Wakefield’s automotive centre, Castleford Campus which has purpose built engineering facilities and construction workshops to create a real working environment, even including input from professionals within the industry.
Upon arrival Fiona was delighted to be accompanied by Principal, Sam Wright, and Executive Director of Curriculum, Lisa Macdonald, and the head of Curriculum, Graham Sherwin, as well as several tutors and students.
Commenting on her visit, Fiona said:
“ABC Awards is delighted to congratulate Wakefield College on becoming a Showcase Centre. The automotive learning facilities are highly impressive, giving a true hands on and professional environment for the students to learn and progress further in. This realistic working environment truly proves itself in that 96% of HE Students were in employment six months after graduating last year.”
