Commercial laundry operatives conduct laundry processes in line with product and customer requirements. They classify incoming textile products for laundry processing, complete cleaning processes, dry and finish products, and prepare them for customers. The industry increasingly uses a high level of technology, which operatives use. They also contribute to quality assurance and maintaining the workplace environment.
Gateway Requirements
Apprentices will need to achieve the relevant English and mathematics prior to undertaking their End-Point Assessment (if applicable, see funding rules update February 2025).
A Portfolio of Evidence must be submitted, which underpins the Interview assessment component.
The Assessment
The apprentice will be assessed against the Commercial Laundry Operative requirements. The three methods of assessment are:
- Interview underpinned by a portfolio of evidence
- Multiple-choice test
- Observations with questions
