In order to achieve their apprenticeship, apprentices are required to complete an end-point assessment once they have finished their on-programme training, learning and development.
As part of Skills and Education Group Awards, we specialise in end-point assessments for the fashion and textiles sectors. Our experience with the standards for these industries means we know exactly what employers and apprentices need.
We were delighted to hear that earlier this year, Toni Neild was the first apprentice to successfully complete her end-point assessment for the Sewing Machinist standard with us.
Studying with Burnley College, Toni was an apprentice with The Senator Group.
Tutor, Lynn Whitham, from Burnley College said “This was the first EPA, changing from the old Frameworks to the new Standards, so it was very interesting to set the whole process up from start to finish.
“I found the help and guidance from Skills and Education Group Awards extremely helpful throughout each stage of the process, such as using PEPA (their online management system) for the first time. Any emails or questions were answered straight away.
“At the final stage when the apprentice reached gateway, Skills and Education Group Awards contacted the college and the employer to get the assessment started. It was very professionally dealt with throughout. I was very pleased that the apprentice passed with a distinction and I’m looking forward to continuing to work with Skills and Education Group Awards.”
We also heard from Justin Lyon, Process Control Coordinator at The Senator Group who commented “As this was the first EPA for sewing, we were pleasantly surprised with how easy the initial setup and organising went.
“The communication between us the employer, the college and Skills and Education Group Awards was excellent, and this reassured our apprentice for the big day.
“The EPA assessor made our apprentice feel comfortable and relaxed and this certainly helps the apprentice fulfil their requirements.
“Overall, we were very pleased with the performance and outcome and we are looking forward to working with Skills and Education Group Awards again.”
As an end-point assessment organisation, Skills and Education Group Awards makes the Assessment process as simple as possible by offering targeted and ongoing support services.
