The Level 4 Textile Technical Specialist end-point assessment is now open for organisations to register their apprentices.
Find all the details about the assessment and apprenticeship standard below.
What is the Level 4 Textile Technical Specialist Apprenticeship?
The Textile Technical Specialist occupation is a technical role within textile and fashion advanced manufacturing companies. It involves using specialist textile machinery and equipment to weave or to finish textiles which service the world’s textile supply chain.
This apprenticeship standard has two options: Technical Weaving Technician and Technical Finishing Technician.
In their daily work, an employee in either of these occupational roles works in a sophisticated production environment using computer systems to plan and programme production machinery, interchanging between manufacturing facilities and laboratories.
The broad purpose of the occupation is to ensure that the technical capabilities of the plant, the product and the machinery are appropriately and innovatively finetuned to meet customer expectations.
Typical job titles for this occupation can include Finishing Technician, Production Manager, Textile Technician, Weaving Overlooker, and more. Individuals in this role may be employed across micro businesses, SMEs and large businesses, ranging from small weaving and finishing businesses to large clothing businesses to meet requirements of a global fashion market.
This apprenticeship standard aligns with Licentiateship Membership of The Textile Institute.
What are the gateway requirements and assessment methods?
Apprentices must achieve Level 2 English and maths prior to taking the end-point assessment.
The two methods of assessment are:
- Workplace Observation with Questioning
- Professional Discussion supported by Portfolio of Evidence.
The Portfolio of Evidence is therefore also a gateway requirement.
Where can it take the apprentice?
This apprenticeship standard aligns with Licentiateship Membership of The Textile Institute.
